10 Biblical Reasons Why Evangelism Should Be a High Priority in Your Center

by Sep 26, 2024SMSC

The bottom line of EvanTell’s “Save the Mother, Save Her Child” initiative is to proclaim the gospel, specifically by training and equipping the staff and volunteers of PRCs to share the good news with confidence, clarity, and kindness.

The main reason we focus on sharing the gospel is because Jesus commanded it.

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Mark 16:15

“Because I said so” is a great motivation when it comes from God Almighty.

Scripture provides several other “whys” that motivate you to share the gospel with your clients, family, neighbors, coworkers, and others. Here are a few “whys” that come to mind.

1. Glorify God

Sing to the Lord, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods. Psalm 96:2-4

The main job of believers is to bring God glory by declaring His attributes and character through our words and actions. Each time you share the gospel, you bring God glory through your public testimony.

2. Populate heaven

I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:7

One of the only things you can take to heaven is other people. When you share the gospel, you invite someone to join you in heaven.

3. Reach people who may not otherwise be reached.

Thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, but as it is written, “Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.” Romans 15:20-21

Some of the people who come to your center will never darken a church door, hear a sermon, or have any other exposure to the gospel. What an awesome opportunity to be God’s ambassador to those people!

4. Empower your clients to choose life

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14

If Jesus saves the mother, she becomes a new creation indwelt with the Holy Spirit. She can then discern that God loves her unborn child and has a plan for their life.

5. Warn about the coming judgment

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment. Hebrews 9:27

Someone has said that all roads lead to God. That is true because everyone will appear before God for judgment. However, only one road leads to heaven, Jesus Christ, whose gospel you proclaim.

6. Make new disciples

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19

Every believer’s job description includes making disciples. Evangelism is a crucial event in this process. People cannot follow Jesus if they do not know Jesus.

7. Become more like Christ

But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Matthew 9:36-38

One goal of discipleship is to become more like Christ. That includes adopting His heart for those who do not know Him.

8. Strengthen our faith

Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel. Philippians 1:27

Faith is like a muscle; it is meant to be strengthened. One of the best ways to strengthen your faith is to get out of your comfort zone and share your faith with others.

9. Build eternal reward

Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 1 Corinthians 3:8

What you do in this life determines your reward in the next. God will reward your efforts to make Him known to others.

10. Prepare for the Lord’s Return

For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? For you are our glory and joy. 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20

What better way to prepare to meet the Lord than to introduce others to the Lord!
